Each year Kit Cosmetics, an Australian beauty brand, holds a design award. The winning design is featured on the packaging for limited edition products in store and online. The theme in 2010 was 'taking shape' and as a long-time admirer of Kit's branding and corporate identity, I wanted to show that a strong typeface and three letters alone could make a brand come to life.
There were hundreds of entries that were whittled down to 20 finalists by industry experts such as Beci Orpin and alternative magazineFrankie. I was delighted to go on to be voted as the winner of the 2010 Kit Award after the finalists were opened to a public vote - being chosen not only by people in the industry that I respect for their approaches to design as well as by people who also love the Kit brand was a true honour.
